A small sample of what the critics have had to say about Bronx Opera's production of the Mahler/Weber posthumous collaboration, Die drei Pintos:

"An entertaining and snappily paced production."

The New York Times - January 18, 2010

"If you have ever considered the idea of attending an opera, but found the prospect rather daunting or, quite frankly, boring, then we would recommend the Bronx Opera's version of Die drei Pintos as the perfect gateway into the world of classical opera.  Always engaging, never stuffy, and made highly accessible by being fully translated into English, it's a great night of entertainment for both the regular and novice theater goer alike."

As the Bronx Opera's lively new staging demonstrated on Jan. 9 at the first of four performances, this Weber-Mahler concoction is likely to please just about everyone...It’s an ingratiating work – so much so that it was surprising to hear from the Bronx Opera that this production was New York's first.

Musical America - January 13, 2010

Every season, The Bronx Opera dares to be different and present a rare or unique opera to start its year. This time, they present one that is rare AND unique. Die Drei Pintos, a piece created by Carl Weber, was incomplete at time of his passing. It was parceled from composer to composer until – 65 years later – it was brought to fruition by Gustav Mahler. What is finally there is an engaging, joyous work brought to appreciative audiences in The Bronx and Manhattan.
